Impact Measurement Consulting for Nonprofits

You’re doing meaningful work — but proving and improving your impact can feel complex. I help small and growing nonprofits design practical, right-sized impact measurement systems that clarify what’s working, strengthen funding cases, and support smart decisions.

My Approach and Background

I focus on small and growing nonprofits, so every engagement starts simple, focused, and practical. We’ll co-design indicators, tools, and systems that fit your capacity - so you can focus less on reporting and more on driving real impact.

Beyond the core skillsets needed to create monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning systems, I have expertise in quantitive and qualitative methods research, including participatory approaches, research ethics, and working with systemically excluded and climate vulnerable populations.

Beyond the information provided on this website, examples and references around specific skillsets can be provided upon request.

For Large Projects and Broader Nonprofit Strategy Needs

  • I take on a few clients at a time for impact measurement; however if more resources are needed on a project, I pull on a team of well-qualified impact expert colleagues to support, with oversight. Colleague profiles will be introduced to clients as needed.

  • Additionally, if clients need nonprofit development support beyond impact measurement, I also work with expert colleagues on additional offerings that can be packaged, such as the creation or refresh of a broad organizational strategy and mission, workshop design and facilitation, training curriculum development, stakeholder mapping, expert interviewing, gender equity and social inclusion initiatives and policies, justice based interventions, business training, and more.

For Small and Emerging Nonprofits (under USD 200,000 annual revenue, typically 1–5 staff)

Early-stage nonprofits are often doing powerful work with limited time and resources — but need clarity on how to show and strengthen their impact. This package helps you establish the building blocks of a credible, practical measurement system that fits your size and capacity from day one.

  • Facilitate a goal and outcome-mapping session to clarify what success looks like for your programs

  • Identify up to 5 core outcome indicators that align with your mission and are realistic to track

  • Design simple data collection tools and sampling plans you can manage in-house or with volunteers

  • Create an analysis plan to provide clear, actionable insights for learning and adaptive management at each step, and use in reports or fundraising to tell your impact story

  • (Optional add-on) Develop a mini impact summary or dashboard for donors or board members

For Scaling Nonprofits (USD 200,000 - 1,000,000 annual revenue, typically 5–20 staff)

Organizations at this stage are typically scaling programs, diversifying funding, and starting to face more complex reporting demands. This package helps you move from ad-hoc data collection to a clear, usable measurement system that connects your activities to the outcomes you care about most and a cohesive, actionable measurement system that supports strategy, fundraising, and learning to match.

  • Facilitate a goal-setting and outcomes alignment workshop to define priority outcomes, learning questions, and or build an organizational Theory of Change

  • Develop an impact measurement strategy that aligns with your Theory of Change or strategic plan

  • Ensure your core set of KPIs (3–5) are working for you, and have practical data collection methods and instruments

  • Create a data management system and reporting workflow (simple, replicable, right-sized for your capacity)

  • Provide training or coaching to staff responsible for data collection and use

  • (Optional add-on) Plan a pilot data collection and analysis cycle to test and refine tools

For Established Nonprofits (over USD 1,000,000 annual revenue, typically 20+ staff)

Larger, more established nonprofits often have existing data systems, funder requirements, and diverse program portfolios, but lack a unifying framework that ties these pieces together. This offering focuses on aligning impact measurement and integrating results into strategic decision-making and organization-wide learning.

  • Conduct a comprehensive audit of existing indicators, data systems, and reporting processes

  • Facilitate leadership and team alignment on intended outcomes and learning priorities

  • Design an organization-wide impact framework linked to your strategy and Theory of Change

  • Develop a data use and governance plan to ensure quality, consistency, and accessibility

  • Provide coaching and implementation support over 6–12 months to embed practices across teams
